At this point in the game we could use some inflation, everything is dirt cheap when it comes down to mods the merchant is almost paying the buyouts.

Yes, you are missing something. When gold farmers earn cash, there's still time being consumed; they have to work within the constraints of the game. They can't generate 100k on command as ANet can, so the rate of inflation is a ton slower. Also, 3,000 charr =/= 100k.
Also, what's wrong with everything being cheap? Your method would only make things harder on those honest people who actually work for their gold. It's a game. There's supposed to be challenge. Otherwise, the people with more IRL money will have the advantage on those who'd rather spend their money on, y'lknow, useful stuff (or who just don't have that kind of cash to throw around).
I have a feeling large numbers of people would quit if ANet started offering actual advantage (as opposed to cosmetic stuff) for real money, especially after their years of opposing RMT. A ton of people don't like that concept.
Also, you do know Lil' KT and the Pandaren Monk are vanity pets, right? They're just like minipets. Occasionally KT zaps a critter or two, but they won't fight for you. Blizz knows they can't get away with anything more than that, and so does ANet.

If it is just a ranger skinned pet it wouldn't really matter if it fought for you now would it since it would hit just like any old pet. That is like saying we cannot buy the bonus mission pack because the weapons do damage, and anet cannot do that because these weapons look different when you hold them, and they do damage, not just sit in your inventory and look cool.
Now, as for saying that it makes it harder on people that earn the gold, not really, if they farm the gold then most of the items they get are worth more value. It goes both ways.
Noone really gives two shits about how many char is what, it was an example.
As for advantages, are you high? I never said anything that gives an advantage, oh no this dudes rangers pet has a different skin, OVERPOWERED! /RAGEQUIT OHNOES ANET RUINED THE GAME, NEW SKINNED PETS!
As for being in a time constraint, do you really think it matters at this point, I mean honestly there is people out there with thousands of ectos...
If people are buying the gold already who gives a shit where they get it from... They buy it from a gold seller they get it instantly they buy it from anet, they get it instantly, doesn't matter, they get the gold BOTH ways, and that is all that matters, is the RESULTS. The result being THEY BOUGHT/GOT THE GOLD.
On another note, they could have another micro transaction - Unlock all NPCs in guild hall.

I'd say this addition is a little more than cosmetics. Afterall you do have to pay ingame gold to get the mounts themselves and this allows you to bypass the process. Each character on your account gets access to it as well. Granted the riding skill itself is a much greater cost when compared to the mounts and you can theoretically find mounts in instances.
It certainly pushes the boundaries of using real world currency for some kind of ingame short cut. Only slightly, but that mount is more than just cosmetics.
Also the Lil XT pet is freaking loud. Either that or my brother needs to turn his speakers down.

Naw, it basically is cosmetic. The cost of the mount itself is nothing compared to the price of training and can basically be raised in a day. You still need to get the right level and skill, and of course if you want a 310% sparklepony you need to find a 310% in the wild. The only thing potentially eliminated is rep grind, which is only required for special mounts anyway.
If they introduced pets... well, that'd be different, as currently there's no way to just buy a pet. I think a lot of people who tracked down rare beasties for pets would be ticked if they offered a store pet that you could acquire instantly. Heck, I'm slightly annoyed they're giving hunters starter pets now.

All I can really say is, gg Blizzard. They have millions of people flinging money at them every month and now they've got hundreds of thousands of people piling more money on top of that. A+

Currently bought gold is purchaced by a proportion of players who are willing to go outside of the rulls of the game. Now I don't know the figures, but I'd guess it's a significant market, or the gold sellers wouldn't do it.
But significant though it is, this is only a proportion of the player base who buy gold
Switch to Anet's selling gold and it's no longer an illicit act. It's a sanctioned act. You'll get much larger proportion of people who'll make to purchaces. The volume of gold entering into the game will skyrocket, and the prices with it.
Keep that up and the only way to be able to afford anything would be to buy gold as rate of earnign would not be able to match the rate gold is purchaced. If you think things are bad enough now in the disparity in low and high end prices in game, just think how bad it could be.
Sanctioned gold selling would be equivalent, in RL terms to printing extra money, which would lead to hyperinflation

Inflation is all well and good when costs and expenses move proportionally. A successful economy thrives when cost of living and cost of earning are in line. If it doesn't, then the economy breaks under hyperinflation and the value of the gold itself drops with prices skyrocketting. If you want a real life example, go look at Zimbabwe's recent financial issues. Low earning rate tied with massive government infux of money with little to no material backing
